Have a house in France for sale? Don't want to pay extortionate advertising fees? Solution: Place a free ad and keep your cash.

ADVERTISE YOUR HOLIDAY HOME FOR FREE

If you're a holiday home owner, you've probably waved goodbye to your last guests, finished cleaning after them, closed down the pool and then put your feet up for a few days' well deserved rest after the summer season.

And while you're sipping on that glass of something relaxing, you may find yourself thinking about next summer and planning your advertising campaign.

With over 11 million British people holidaying here last year, France remains the second most popular holiday destination in Europe, which is good news for everybody involved in the holiday and tourist industry. And booking direct with the owner is fast become a favourite way to find holiday accommodation, and one which benefits both parties.

By cutting out agency fees, holiday makers and owners keep more of their hard earned cash in these post-credit-crunch times, and both know who they're dealing with. Guests feel they receive a more personal service from someone who is thoroughly acquainted with the holiday home, the best way to get there, the area, etc, and owners can get a better idea of the people who are coming to stay, arrival times, special needs etc.

You may well already use (and pay for) one of the big online advertisers for owner direct holidays, and perhaps you have your own website. But did you know that you can advertise your holiday property online for free? Be it a house, villa, gîte, mobile home or chambre d'hôte.

If you're a private individual, and, for a limited period, even if you're a holiday letting business, you can place a free ad on BritsBazaar.com, the classified ad site for Brits in France and English speaking Francophiles everywhere. You can display up to ten photos to give prospective guests a good impression of the accommodation and you can add a link to your own website to give them all the information they need.

Don't forget, your holiday home doesn't have to be in France, even people who live there go away on holiday.

Why not give it a go?
It won't cost you anything!

Where Can You Buy a Second Hand Car in France?

Bonjour,

If you're an expat living in France looking for a used car to buy, you do have a few options open to you. Visiting the local dealers for véhicules occasionés might offer up a bit of a choice, and browsing the Top Annonces, Auto Scout, or Le Bon Coin if you're confident in French, but if you prefer to deal with a seller who speaks English, your choice is a bit more limited.

You might strike lucky and find there's someone on your local English online forum selling a suitable vehicle, or, if it's feasible, you can always pop back to the UK, bring a car over and go through the whole import / registration rigmarole - although the French authorities seem to be making this more and more difficult.

Of course, you could take a look on BritsBazaar.com, where sellers can advertise cars, motorbikes, caravan and trailers for free, with up to ten photos to boot. And, if you can't find what you're looking for, you can always place a free Wanted ad.

Shopping from Asda delivered to France

Bonjour Tous,

If you're an ex-pat living in France, there may be times when you just can't find what you're looking for in the local Intermarché.

However much you love things French and have adjusted your diet to embrace the wonderful local produce, occasionally you can be seized with a craving for marmite, or wish you had some thick gravy granules to add to your winter casseroles.

Of course, there are some obvious solutions for these hankerings; you make forays back across the channel to stock up with the necessities; you ask visitors to bring supplies if they have room in their luggage; and you can ask for the odd food parcel to be sent over from the UK.

But there is another option if you live in Brittany, Normandy, or Pays Loire.

You can buy goods from Asda and George and have them delivered to France. Sounds almost too good to be true - you pay the Adsa price, there is no mark up, and you can pay in Euros, or GB£ to save exchange costs; for anyone living on a UK income that will be quite a saving.

There is a massive range of goods and services available, from groceries to bedding, laptops to car part, all online, and far too many to even begin listing here.

If you'd like to find out more about filling your online shopping trolley, and having it delivered to France, visit the link below to find out exactly how it works. Even if you're in a region not currently covered, and would be interested in the service, why not let them know because it could be expanded to include you.

Details can be found on this link:

Special family urgently wanted

I'm sure anyone who sees them will want to take them home, so, hopefully, they won't be waiting long.

And today's bizarre fact:

Did you know...
Centipedes always have an uneven pairs of walking legs.

Awkward if you have to buy shoes in pairs.

Bonjour Tous!!
Perhaps that should be Bonjour Two!! Even that may be an overstatement, seems my main visitor to the blog, got quite excited when I saw all the page reads, is a spam referer! Just Googled it, found out ways to deal with the pesky little blighter. Doesn't sound half as tricky as getting rid of Moles in your garden, but certainly less desirable.

Anyway I digress, nice little pad gone on BritsBazaar.com today, again it is with Delamarche Immobilier in Normandy, see below photo, can be yours for a cool  1,272,000 euros, Yep euros not Sterling so thats not so bad, eh?

Received kind instructions from Terredefrance.fr today to start listing their properties, will feature some in the blog later on, so the ball is rolling nicely with the immobiliers and, AND, we have had quite a few personal ads going on (Hurrah, I hear you shout)! But not as loudly as us!!!!

A well decent BMW R 1100 S motorbike, really looks the biz!! For sale in Morbihan, looks about as straight as you can get. Check it out on this link

http://www.britsbazaar.com/ads/cars-vans-motorbikes/motorbikes-scooters/bmw-r-1100-s-motorcycle-for-sale-918.html&kID=9

Also had old Hay carts, B&B's and more private sell houses etc, Many many thanks to those people using our service, don't forget a free ad with up to 10, yes 10, free photos for all you Expats in France.

Keep the ads rolling in, this site is for you, make it work, please!

And, finally, of course todays "it's bizarre" from BritsBazaar,

Every time you lick a stamp, you're consuming 1/10 of a calorie!

There you go then, send more E-cards when on a diet!!

Bonjour Tous!!

You come across something different everyday on BritsBazaar.com!! Never seen one of these before!
This is, apparently, an Earthship, it is a totally eco-friendly dwelling, rates a rating of A on the French diagnostics test so must be good.
It is on the books of the latest immobiliers, DelaMarche in Normandie, who have kindly given us instructions to market their properties on BritsBazaar.com.

A unique opportunity to buy a world famous Earthship, first and only official fully residential Earthship in Europe. The house is totally self-sufficient for all aspects - water, power, sewage, cooling and heating.
You can find out more by going to   http://www.britsbazaar.com/ads/property/property-sales/the-earthship-891.html?page=2&kID=20

And from there is a website link for all the other great properties on their books.

We still need more of you expats listing your cars, bikes, trailers, holiday lets, whatever, this is what we really started the site for, we can easily cram it with property for sale etc but what we really want is YOU using it, remember the ADs are free for you with up to 10 photos, Get Listing!!!

Another quick "it's bizarre" from BritsBazaar;

In the town of Chateauneuf-du-Pape in Provence a municipal law of 1954 prohibits Flying saucers from landing within the borders of the Municipality.

So take heed all you Aliens, if you don't want a parking ticket keep away from Provence!!

Bonjour Tous!

Hectic times trying to get a new French classified Ads site rolling!! We were looking for semi-retirement and now we are putting in 12 hour days! Oh well, keeps us out of trouble I suppose.
Having managed to coax a large Brittany based English speaking Immobilier, Mayer Immobilier, based in Huelgoat, Finistere, into posting their properties for sale with us, we are doing all the loading up etc ourselves, we have now "visited" around 300 Breton properties in 4 days! Someone must have made a killing selling Pine Cladding in Brittany, is there a house somewhere in Brittany with out any??
Could do with more of your small ads going on, not just from the Brittany region but the whole of France, come on get it rolling, after all it is a free service to joe Public and you can put on up to 10 Free photos, let people see what you are selling, gotta be better, a picture paints a thousand words after all.

We have now had kind instructions from Charente Immobilier  a registered French real estate agency (immobilier) based in the riverside town of Jarnac in the Poitou Charentes, to go ahead and list their properties, around 300 ranging from fantastic fairytale Chateaux at over 1 million euros to old barns awaiting conversion to your dream home at the opposite end of the price scale, take a look at some of them, get some inspiration for when you win the Euro Millions!!!

Anyway, i'll leave you with an "it's Bizarre" from BritsBazaar:

Did you know...
MAFIA is an acronym for Morte Alla Francia Italia Anela, or "Death to the French is Italy's Cry"

Don't stop them going on holiday there though, does it!

We Need A New Service for English Speaking Expats in France

UP To NOW, members of the English speaking community in France looking for an on-line small ads service to buy, sell or advertise services and events, have been limited to advertising on small, local forums, often with a limited membership. If you're moving back or moving on, what can you do with a house full of stuff that can't move with you? Or, arriving in France on a
budget, how can you source furniture and household goods at a price you're happy to pay?

We need something to fill the gap. How about a classified ads website covering the whole of France where private advertisers could post their ads with up to ten photos, completely free of charge? What a great way to get rid of the things we want to sell or give away, and find what we're looking for.

And wouldn't it be a great shop window for people like crafters who want to display their handmade jewellery, cards, toys, patchwork and embroidery, etc? With the option of a PayPal button, it could even be an attractive alternative to auction sites with commission fees.

Obviously, it wouldn't seek to compete with the online forums like AngloInfo and French Entrée among many others, that many of us expats have joined, indeed, it would fulfil quite a different role. However, used in conjunction with postings on forums that don't support image uploads, private advertisers could direct enquiries to the website and save themselves the hassle of having to send out dozens of photos.

A lot of Anglophone expats are not comfortable using French classified ad websites such as Le Bon Coin and, similarly, we prefer dealing with companies and trades people who speak English. It avoids all the confusion and misunderstandings that often arise through differences in practice as well as in language. With a site like this, businesses would have the opportunity to advertise specifically to an audience who sees the ability to speak English as an additional positive when making their buying choice.

And the expat community could use and grow the site in a variety of ways; how about advertisements for lost and found pets (and other possessions) with photographs; lifts and car-shares offered and wanted; seeking or offering accommodation; advertising clubs and events? With the social networking opportunities available via Facebook and Twitter, people could exchange and pass on all sorts of information.
I have just found  BritsBazaar which aims to link our widespread expat community that shares two essential characteristics (we all speak English and we all live in France) and bring together in one place all our ''for sales' and 'wanteds'.

Tell a friend - the more people who know, the better it will work.
